Summer Immersion Counselor Job Description

Summer Immersion Counselors are an essential part of Envision Lead Grow’s Summer Experience. Counselors will work directly with participants while practicing leadership skills. After undergoing training, counselors will take ELG’s Eight Seeds to Success curriculum and facilitate it to small groups of middle school girls. Counselors are responsible for supervision of their group throughout the summer, during core activities as well as additional activities the participants will partake in. A typical day will revolve around facilitating for, interacting with and supervising participants. Counselors not leading sessions are assisting with various duties around camp (event planning and organizing, office work). Evenings involve participation, supervision, and leadership in planned activities. The weekends at camp will either involve supervising participants on trips, getting the dorms ready for the next week, or off duty. If you are a college student considering a career in art, teaching, sports management, dance, theater, fine arts, child development, child psychology or management, this position provides practical, meaningful experience to build your resume.


  • Facilitate curriculum to groups of 8 middle school girls
  • Assist with all aspects of the daily running of Summer Camp including supervision of campers
  • Participate in programs and activities with participants giving adult guidance and leadership
  • Interpret and administer personnel policies and camp guidelines
  • Act as a leader in a chosen program area (i.e. drama, singing, sports, science, etc.)
  • Create and plan daily activities within program area
  • Serve as a role model and guide participants in appropriate behaviors, languages, attitudes, and activities
  • Communicate with Program Manager routinely regarding plans, problems and concerns
  • Stay in dormitory buildings throughout camp and be responsible for 8-12 participants on their hall
  • Complete daily dorm checks for cleanliness


  • Must be 19+
  • Caring, patient, fun-loving, energetic, and truly love working with children
  • Skilled and experienced in one of more program area
  • Experience working with school-aged children, preferably girls
  • Leadership experience among peers
  • Ability to make decisions and act wisely in an emergency
  • Must be CPR certified by the beginning of camp
  • Able to attend counselor training July 5th-7th and stay at site from July 8th- 21st (dates nonnegotiable)


  • Experience with leadership, time management, public speaking, role modeling, and teaching


  • Program Manager
