From ELG Summer Camp to a visit with the Sharks

Congratulations to ELG Summer Camp alum (Virginia Beach, 2016) Kenedee Cassidy! The Kempsville High School student spent some time hanging out with the Sharks last fall.

Kenedee’s mother, Lisa, tells us that her daughter learned so much during the ELG Summer Camp. She used the presentation she created for her passion pitch and presented it to the organizers of an event connected with Shark Tank star and entrepreneur Daymond John.

Kenedee was chosen to present her pitch on stage in front of John and fellow Shark Tank star Kevin Harrington.

Way to go, Kenedee!

Seed 01: Consider what makes your heart sing – what brings you joy or peace

Consider what makes your heart sing – what brings you joy or peace. When I was a child, I loved dancing. I was happiest when I danced – any kind of dancing would do. As I got older, I found happiness in so many other things – traveling and writing for example. I also found that there were some things I really liked in my work-life: planning, training, mentoring. I also really like solving problems and finding new ways for clients to succeed. I took these things that made me happy and found a way to use them in my daily life. It is what brings me joy.

Seed 02: Put pen to paper.

Put pen to paper. I love the feeling of setting a goal and writing it down. For me, that act of putting pen to paper crystallizes my dream into a goal and makes it all the more real. I keep a journal with me at all times. People wonder what I am writing about. The truth is, they are random thoughts sometimes, and other times they are detailed plans.

Seed 03: Speak It & Bring It to Life – Speak as if it is

Speak It & Bring It to Life – Speak as if it is. I recently met a new entrepreneur, and she introduced herself as an itty, bitty business owner working out of her basement with no customers. I quickly told her that this would be her elevator speech: “I am the owner of a successful venture, working out of my office, catering to my customer base.” Don’t reinforce negativity by speaking down on yourself; speak your successes into existence.

Seed 04: Inhale and exhale – determine who breathes life into it and who drains the energy out of it.

Inhale and exhale – determine who breathes life into it and who drains the energy out of it. – It’s commonly said that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. If the people in your inner circle don’t believe in your dreams, soon enough, you won’t either. If they just agree with everything you say without working for growth, soon your own growth will cease as well. It’s all about finding the balance of people who are invested in you enough to give you valuable feedback that will help you excel.

Seed 06: Plan Your Success

Plan your success – It is so easy to jump in and get to work, but the magic is in the plan. Zig
Ziglar said, “Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation.” Plan your dream so that when the window of opportunity presents itself to you, you are ready to turn that window into a door.

Seed 07: Reevaluate your plan – it is never too late to modify your vision.

Reevaluate your plan – it is never too late to modify your vision. Every day is a chance to learn and to adjust. I’m constantly getting new data that can cause detours and pivots in my plans. Do not continue on a path of destruction just because it is the path you started on. Reevaluate and make sure you are going to where you want to go. (more…)

First ever Envision Lead Grow summer camp inspires rising 9th grade girls

Virginia Beach, Virginia (August 12, 2016) — For five days during summer break in August, 20 teen girls got to work – pinpointing what they are passionate about, figuring out how to morph that passion into a potential business, and creating a solid plan to reach their goal.

This was a dream come true for Envision Lead Grow creator and entrepreneur Angela Reddix.

“The Envision Lead Grow movement, to me, is to inspire people beyond their today,” Reddix said. She is also the CEO of ARDX, a multi-million dollar healthcare management consulting company based in Norfolk, Virginia. Throughout the week, the girls learned ‘The 8 Seeds of Success.” She said those 8 seeds were “the pillars of strength for me throughout my ten years in business.”

If you passed by the girls’ classroom at Kempsville High School, you could hear, “I want to be a motivational speaker,” “I love music,” and, “Sports is my thing.”

They are rising 9th graders who will be attending The Entrepreneurship and Business Academy at Kempsville High in Virginia Beach.

This camp was nothing like they had seen before.

“I have learned so much. I didn’t expect it to be like this,” said student Allison Daniels.

On Monday, the girls created “passion plans,” boards filled with things they love, ideas they can’t stop thinking about, and possible business ventures.

By Friday, they all walked into the school auditorium, ready to give a two-minute speech in front of a crowd of their peers and their parents on how they were going to turn their passion plan into a business. It was a passion plan competition.

In the end, Reddix crowned Allison Daniels the winner. She crafted a plan for her company, MS Meals and More, a food delivery, handyman and cleaning service specifically for people dealing with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Reddix gave her $500 to put toward her goals.

“I’ve been to different programs and it’s just, you sit in a class all day. This was a hands-on program and I learn better this way. A lot of inspiration in the room,” Daniels said.

The inspiration came from their camp leaders, Anyssa Reddix, Darcy Caja and Taylor Britt. They taught the girls the 8 Seeds:

  1. Consider what makes your heart sing
  2. Put pen to paper
  3. Speak it and bring it to life
  4. Inhale and exhale
  5. Delve into the details
  6. Plan your success
  7. Reevaluate your plan
  8. Stop and smell the roses!

You can download your own workbook and learn how to use the 8 Seeds in your own business and life by downloading it here.

“I want to be able to give young girls and women a voice, to let them know their dreams are not crazy. They don’t have to put it on the back burner. They may have to be creative. They may have to find the right resources. They may have to find the right support group. And that’s what I want to be. I want to be a safe landing for individuals to just take off,” Reddix said. will be the support group, with monthly webinars open to anyone. Sign up here to learn when the next one will be.

“I believe you can make your dreams come true. will be a place to encourage each other’s dreams into reality.”
