On April 21- 24, 2022, top performing girl bosses from all across the country will attend ELG’s 5th Annual Entrepreneur Institute to learn about advanced business needs, environmental activism, and leadership.

This reward trip brings together Fortune 500 companies, mentors, business educators, and female entrepreneurs in our home city of Norfolk, VA in partnership with Dominion Energy, Old Dominion University Strome Entrepreneurial Center and Norfolk State University. It is an all-expense paid trip for girl bosses who participate in the mentoring sessions, the All-City, All-Youth Webinars, and the ELG business challenges. ELG entrepreneurs who are engaged in the program can earn a spot in The Entrepreneur Institute.

This year’s Entrepreneur Institute hosts workshops of topics focused on the environment, such as eco-friendly packaging, e-commerce, climate change, air quality, and more, in additional to advanced business workshops. Moreover, girls will learn about environmental impact and specific needs while completing environmental focused service-learning projects. On Sunday, April 24, from 10 AM – 1PM at ODU’s Strome Entrepreneurial Center, ELG’s girl bosses will be pitching their businesses and vending their products at the Girl Boss Marketplace.

Our Speakers

Kiara Davis

Kiara Davis is a proud native and resident of Hampton Roads, Virginia. She is a 2009 graduate of Norview High School and Tidewater Community College with an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts. In 2011, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and English. She went on to obtain her Master’s of Business Management from Cambridge College in 2014.  She currently is the owner and Chief Branding and Public Relations Officer at Kiara The Creative Einstein and Marketing Brand and Community Coordinator for ABNB Federal Credit Union.  Kiara is passionate about helping others begin their marketing, branding, and public relations journey. In her free time, Kiara enjoys shopping, traveling, plays, concerts, and spending time with friends and family.

Danica Royster

Danica Royster is a wealth consultant at First Genesis of Virginia, LLC a family owned, and black owned financial planning firm based in Norfolk, Virginia. She graduated from Old Dominion University in 2012 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management. She is well trained in financial services and is focused on building her practice using a holistic approach when assisting clients in pursuing their financial goals and objectives. She specifically focuses her practice on retirement planning, wealth accumulation strategies, educational funding for college and asset protection planning. She has tailored her practice to assisting young professionals in establishing a solid financial foundation and educating them regarding financial opportunities to create generational wealth. Danica has a passion for enhancing financial literacy and implementation in the African American community and hopes to continue to partner with various organizations to empower her generation in Hampton Roads and beyond.

Danica was appointed to Norfolk City Council on January 13, 2021, and elected to City Council on November 2, 2021, to represent the citizens of Superward 7. She currently serves on the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission and co-chairs the Mayor’s Advisory Committee for the St. Paul’s Area and the Mayor’s Commission on Social Equity and Economic Opportunity. In 2019, Ms. Royster was recognized as a Millennial on the Move by Cova Biz for exemplifying success in her profession while also working with the community to advance the entire region. She was recently recognized as part of Old Dominion Alumni Association’s Inaugural Top 40 Under 40 class.

Abby Smith

Abby Smith is the Digital & Social Media Manager at Primm Advertising Agency in Norfolk, Virginia. She oversees paid and organic social media strategy, develops messaging, and conceptualizes client campaigns. In addition, she contributes to SEO strategy development and serves as the in-house content writer. As a digital native, Abby has spent the bulk of her career creating in the social media space, welcoming the challenges that arise as platforms, trends, and algorithms shift. She graduated from Pace University in 2018, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications. Abby serves as the Vice-Chair of Branding for the tHRive Board which is the signature young professionals network for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, she enjoys doing yoga, cooking, maintaining a growing houseplant collection, and spending time at the beach.
